Stefanos Tsitsipas gave a great game on his premiere in Marseille. However, he has not fully recovered from the multiple games that he had at the beginning of 2019.

As he said during the on-court interview that he gave after his first game at Open 13 tournament, he had been thinking to skip the tournament of Marseille, but he didn’t change his first choice, because on the one hand he hadn’t many victories during indoor season and on the other hand he likes competing in France.

“I am not in my 100% because I had many games at the beginning of the year, but I do love this city and I chose to come and play. I have a great support here. From what I have seen many Greeks came to support me, which is something that surprised me” Stefanos said.

“I felt the positive energy. It was a really great tennis atmosphere. I appreciate that, since not all the tournaments have this level of energy. I felt nice and I hope that I will have great games here during this week because I feel that I deserve winning few good victories in indoor games. Thus I hope to play well and enjoy it” the Greek champion added.

Stefanos beat Hubert Hurkacz by 6-4, 6-2 in an hour. On Friday he will Sergiy Stakhovsky or Gregoire Barrere, for the quarter finals of Open 13 tournament.
