The 15-year-old Cori Gauff continues doing her utmost at Wimbledon. Gauff is about to be the youngest player the last 23 years that will play at “32” phase of a Grand Slam event.
“Coco” prevailed over Magdalena Rybarikova by 6-3, 6-3 in just 69 minutes, while she continues her journey at Wibledon, where she hasn’t lost a set in five games. Gauff has knocked out Aliona Bolsova (6-3, 6-4), Valentina Ivakhnenko (6-2, 6-3), Greet Minnen (6-1, 6-1), Venus Williams (6-4, 6-4) and Rybarikova (6-3, 6-3).
For one more day, Gauff played great tennis. She made 18 winners and only 10 unforced errors against Rybarikova. She had the first break at 6th game, while she came forward by 4-2 and lost only one point in the next two service games, reaching 6-3.
At the second set, Gauff managed to protect her service, without losing any service game. She had break at 3rd game and got ahead by 2-1, while she lost a double break point for 4-1 at the 5th game. However, she didn’t face any break point, taking the double break at 9th game, in order to seal her victory.
The talented “Coco” is about to be the youngest player that will play at 3rd round of a Grand Slam event after 1996 while she is going to be the youngest player playing at Wimbledon after 1991.
